From September 10, the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice presents Leiko Ikemura. TransLucent — The Shape of Light, an exhibition dedicated to the glass sculptures of Leiko Ikemura.

Placed within the historic rooms of the museum in a dialogue with the masterpieces of the permanent collection, from Paolo Veneziano to Vittore Carpaccio, from Titian to Giambattista Tiepolo, the exhibition relates Ikemura’s contemporary research to the Venetian artistic tradition, creating a path of iconographic, symbolic and spiritual references.

Berengo Studio originally collaborated with this dynamic Japanese artist back in 2020. It’s a joy to see her return to Venice with an exhibition that focuses on her work in glass, and the Studio have worked with the artist to create several special pieces for the occasion.

“Leiko Ikemura’s exhibition brings to the Gallerie dell’Accademia a profound reflection on light, fragility, and transcendence. The transparency and immaterial grace of her sculptural medium intertwine with the iconography of our masters — from Paolo Veneziano to Carpaccio, up to Titian and Tiepolo — offering visitors a poetic and profound experience that establishes a dialogue between the great Venetian painting tradition and the languages of contemporary sculpture,” states the Director of the Gallerie dell’Accademia, Giulio Manieri Elia.
